Before we go there, however, it is worth nothing that in order to be a fully registered Canadian citizen, you will first need to be a permanent resident for at least 3 years. After that, if you speak the required languages and have dependable residence, you can then apply for Canadian citizenship.

Easiest Ways to Immigrate From Kenya to Canada 2019

Immigrating from Kenya to Canada is not going to be a walk it the park. But it can still be done. There are some few legal ways you can use to easily gain entry into Canada as a Kenyan citizen.

They include:

1. Express entry

In this type of entry, you will immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker. For you to immigrate through this criteria, you need to have a specific work experience, should have reached the required education level and should also be capable of achieving the required language skills.

You are also required to have the following documents with you:

  1. Language test results
  2. Education assessments
  3. Job offers
  4. Police certificates
  5. Medical exams
  6. Proof of funds

You are then expected to create your Express Entry profile and submit it. In case you are invited, you will have to apply for a permanent residence. If your application is approved, you will be called for an interview which can take place either in or outside Canada.

2. Family sponsorship

You can also migrate from Kenya to Canada through family ties. In this case, the person sponsoring you should be:

  • at least 18 years old
  • a Canadian citizen
  • registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act
  • of permanent residence in Canada

One does not have to qualify all the above requirements in order to sponsor a Kenyan in Canada.

3. Provincial Nominee Program

This is another option of migrating from Kenya to Canada which applies to workers who:

  • Have skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory in Canada
  • Wants to live in that province, and
  • Want to become permanent residents of Canada

In this program, a specific group of people with certain qualifications are targeted. Such groups include:

  • students
  • business people
  • skilled or semi-skilled workers.

The application procedures depend on the Provincial Nominee Program stream you are applying to. During the process, you will have to pass a medical exam and get a police check.

4. Quebec skilled worker program

This is a program designed by Quebec Government in association with the Canadian Federal Government. Quebec is province in Eastern Canada with primarily French-speaking population. The program gives trained and educated foreigners an opportunity to migrate to the Quebec province as skilled workers.

There is a tight eligibility criteria that is used to select immigrants for this program. If you succeed you will be given a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) which you can later use to apply for Canadian permanent residency.

5. Atlantic Immigration Pilot

This is a Canadian Immigration program designed to help employees hire skilled foreign workers wishing to immigrate to Atlantic Canada and also foreign students who wish to stay in Atlantic Canada after their graduation.

Under this type of entry, you can immigrate to Canada by graduating from a school or working in the Atlantic provinces of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland and Labrador.

Requirements for Students

You must:

  • have acquired a degree, diploma or other academic certificate from a publicly funded institution in an Atlantic province.
  • have lived in an Atlantic province for not less than 16 months in the 2 years before getting your degree or diploma
  • take a language test to prove you can seamlessly communicate in English or French
  • prove that you can fend for yourself and your family when you travel to Canada

For the case of recent graduates, no work experience is needed.

Requirements For skilled Workers

You must:

  • have worked in a management, professional or technical/skilled job for at least a year
  • have at least a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent education
  • take a language test to prove you can seamlessly communicate in English or French
  • prove that you can fend for yourself and your family when you travel to Canada

6. Canada Caregiver Immigration Program

In this type of entry, you can immigrate to Canada to work as a care giver to the children, the elderly or those people with medical needs.

To qualify for this program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Provide a written contract between you and the person or organization which is going to employ you. The contract must be dully signed by both parties.
  • You must have achieved an education level that is equivalent to the Canadian secondary school education.
  • You must have received 6 months care giving training or have at least 1 year experience as a full-time caregiver. If you have been previously employed you will need provide references of your previous employees.
  • You will need a legal work permit prior to entering Canada
  • Your employer must receive a positive Labour Market Opinion (LMO) from HRSDC/SC. You will be expected to presented a copy of the positive LMO when applying for a work permit.

Before starting work, your employer in Canada will be required to apply to HRSDC or Service Canada (SC) in order for the job offer to be reviewed. This is simply to ensure that the job offer does not violate the provincial requirements and also to confirm if there are no other Canadians or permanent residents who can do the job.

7. Canadian Investor Immigration

This is a Canadian Immigration Program that targets people with high net worth. These are people who profitable businesses oversees and are able to provide employment opportunity and contribute to the growth of the economy.

Currently, Canada has two investor programs. These are:

  • the Federal Investor Program
  • the Quebec program

To be eligible for either of the programs, you need to have a high net valuable and make huge investment in any approved investment fund for up to 5 years. If you qualify for the investor program, you are allowed to include your spouse(s) and children as dependents.
