Slovakia has made history for sending its first female president to office. Zuzana Caputova who is an Anti-corruption candidate with little political experience defeated high-profile diplomat Maros Sefcovic to become Slovakia’s first female head of state.
Zuzana, a divorcee and mother of two, termed the election which came after the killing of an investigative journalist last year, a struggle between good and evil.
After most of the votes had been counted, Zuzana emerged the winner by 58% to Mr Sefcovic’s 42%. The woman who is now 45, is a member of the liberal Progressive Slovakia party, known for having zero seats in parliament.
